Let’s Be Honest About Tom!

Listen, we get it. Tom looks like any other dog you’d find in a shelter. But Tom is a human at heart, and has human opinions that everyone should be aware of.

Do you like getting kisses and hugs the first time you meet a stranger? Didn’t think so, and neither does Tom. He believes in personal space and a friendly hand shake as an introduction. Don’t get us started with that “all dogs love me” nonsense. We’ve heard it before, and we promise that won’t work with Tom.

Looking for a dog that’s the life of the party? We hate to break it to you, Tom is a party pooper. He wants no part of your festivities. He’s an introvert at heart, which means his idea of a fun time is Netflix and chill. Thankfully, he accepts being kenneled during group events in his foster home. But don’t expect him to be the spotlight of your family function.

Another thing that Tom needs is privacy when he poops. All of us humans get a toilet and a closed door for their business, and you expect him to poop on leash out in the open? You’re joking. Tom needs a fenced yard where he can choose where to do his duty, and he won’t accept anything less.

Dogs? Sure! Some of them. Tom is a bit of a ladies’ man. In his foster home, he was paired with a female dog and they were great together. Ideally, Tom would like another lady friend to be the peanut butter to his jelly. He’s not a fan of male dogs, and though we’ve tried to help him make some male friends, Tom has put his paw down.

Despite all of Tom’s many human opinions, we will admit that he’s a pretty awesome dog. Housetrained, crate-trained, easy to walk, and a huge heart once you’ve become friends. After two years of waiting around, Tom’s getting pretty annoyed with us, and told us to write this HONEST post about him. You can let us know what you think. But at the very least SHARE this post, so someone will finally take him home.
