Great Plains SPCA Tax ID:

Be A Hero For Pets, Donate Today!

Every day, Great Plains SPCA works to make the lives of community pets better!  Your tax-deductible donation helps us continue the critical hands-on work we do for the animals that come through our doors each day. Together we can continue to make a difference in lives of animals and the people who love them.

How Your Donation Makes a Difference for each animal

Our average cost of care per animal is $1350 per animal. The average adoption fee per animal is $173.  That’s a cost of care gap on average of $1,177! We’ve listed some of the services we provide all of our animals in our care and the cost of those services. Your donations are vital for use to help close the gap between cost of care and adoption.

PLEASE NOTE: Effective March 2024, our donation processing service changed from Salsa Labs to Bloomerang/Kindful. If your bank statement shows a charge listed with “BLOOMERANG,” proceeding Great Plains SPCA on the line item, this is a charge from Bloomerang/Kindful donation software which replaced the charge from Salsa Labs. If you have questions about any recent charges, please email

Scooby was a Great Plains SPCA dog that suffered greatly from severe separation anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder. Scooby was at the shelter for more than a year, like so many large dogs that find themselves in animal shelters with few interested adopters due to the pet overpopulation crisis. During Scooby’s time with us, in addition to anxiety medication, our Behavior Team provided intense behavior modification to manage his stress, but ultimately, it was not enough for Scooby and we were unable to save him even with the enormous effort and commitment from staff, volunteers, and Board Members. Scooby was humanely euthanized on October 30, 2023. This was the only peace we were able to provide for him in the end. All donations to the Scooby Fund support our Behavior Team, a group of highly skilled and trained individuals who passionately dedicate their time to helping dogs like Scooby achieve a positive outcome in a forever home.

Matching Gifts From Kansas City Companies

Many generous companies in Kansas City offer matching gift programs, allowing your donation to our animal shelter to go even further. By participating in these programs, employers match their employees’ charitable contributions, doubling or even tripling the impact of each donation. This means more resources for us to provide shelter, medical care, and loving homes to animals in need. Check with your employer to see if they offer a matching gift program and help us save more lives together! Click the button below to view participating businesses.
