Geoffrey arrived at our shelter last Saturday severely emaciated and covered in wounds due to his poor body condition. The person who brought him in claimed to have found Geoffrey in this condition. When we inquired more about where Geoffrey was found, the person said they needed to grab something from their car, then fled the area, reversing down our street so we could not get their license plate number.
While we are never here to judge, the gravity of this situation weighs heavily on all of us. We cannot help but worry and wonder if there are more animals in need of our help, just like Geoffrey. Ultimately, we are glad he was brought to us so we can begin the healing process, but that does not mean this situation is any less upsetting to us all.
Our Shelter Medicine Team has tended to his wounds and has him on a strict feeding plan to ensure he gains weight safely. Geoffrey is slowly settling resting his aching body and understandably devours all of his meals.
