Forever Home Fashion Show Showstoppers

A celebration of fashion, compassion, and companionship – Great Plains SPCA hosted a Forever Home Fashion Show on August 17th to highlight our beloved long-term pets who are seeking their forever homes. These animals put their best paw forward to show our supporters that they too will make joyful, playful, and loving companions.

Though they have spent months, and for some, years, in our care, we refuse to give up on these pets. We will continue to advocate for their adoption and show every potential adopter just how amazing these animals are.

Bug – Pretty Pretty Princess Piggy

7 Years – Terrier/mix

Bug kicked off our fashion show in her bright pink, butterfly-themed costume, complete with a ribbon-lined tutu and glowing smile. At 818 days available for adoption, she is our longest-term pet in the entire shelter.

This fancy girl promptly returned to the couch of her foster home after the fashion show and would love a quiet home where she can take as many naps as she sees fit. Bug is the queen of the castle and will need to meet any other doggy friends before making things official. But beneath that aura of dignity is a calm, piggy-snorting, fun-loving, toy-tossing bundle of joy that wants nothing more than a forever family to call her own.

Donald & Daisy – Shelter Soulmates

1 Year & 2 Years – Pointer/mixes

The only bonded pair at our shelter, Donald and Daisy strutted their stuff in adorably ferocious dragon garb. They have waited 273 days for their forever, with multiple meet-and-greets over the months. But potential adopters have reservations about adding two new furry friends to their household.

We wanted to ease those fears and found multiple foster homes to give this precious pair a trial run in their homes. From the various fosters, we learned that Donald and Daisy are housetrained, quiet, friendly with strangers, and even took a trip to Cabela’s to peruse the aquarium with no issues. Though they love each other, they get along great with other dogs as well. All they need is a family willing to give them a chance at forever.

Scooby – Scootin’ For A Scooby Snack

4 Years – Boxer/Great Dane

Our saddest story of the Forever Home Fashion Show, Scooby has patiently waited 264 days with ZERO adoption interest.

Scooby is a big ole’ boy with the largest heart of all our shelter pets. He has suffered through heartworm treatment, months of being looked over by potential adopters, and immense shelter stress. But despite it all, he continues to show us love through massive doggy kisses and an exuberance for life. Scooby adores his people but would prefer to have all the attention to himself as the only pet. We know that home is out there somewhere, and we will keep searching until Scooby meets his forever family.

Zaria – Sweet As Honey

5 Years – Terrier/mix

Zaria made her debut in our fashion show as Winnie the Pooh, accentuated with a jar of honey carried by our staff. Despite being super cute and cuddly, this fashionista has waited 284 days for her forever.

Everyone at Great Plains SPCA is a bit befuddled by the mystery that is Zaria’s lack of a forever home. She is housetrained, good with kiddos, though would prefer older ones that want to play, and social with other dogs. Zaria regularly spends time in offices with our staff, and has had multiple foster homes that all left raving reviews. Surely her time to shine with a loving family is right around the corner.
