When sharing on social media doesn’t work: Anda’s story

We first shared Anda’s story on Facebook on April 16 and since then have issued multiple pleas to find her forever family, but Anda is still without a home.

  • On May 8, we shared the urgent need for Anda to find a foster home to get a break from the shelter environment. No calls.
  • On May 15, we shared the staggering statistic that Anda had been at the shelter for 65 days without a single inquiry to meet her. Still no calls.
  • On May 19, Anda took over our Instagram and Facebook accounts for the entire day. That day, we shared a video of Anda greeting her favorite staff member, our CEO, which to-date has reached over 500,000 people. Heartbreakingly, not a single meet and greet resulted from the post.
  • On June 18, we created and shared another video of Anda. At that point, she had been at the shelter for three months and not had a single meet and greet.
  • On June 21, Anda finally had her first meet and greet, but it did not lead to an adoption.
  • On June 29, she was featured in a video with our CEO in our weekly e-newsletter that is sent out to 13,000 supporters. Despite these efforts, Anda has not had any other meet and greets, and she’s starting to lose hope.

All Anda needs is someone to give her a chance. She is extremely loyal to her people, excellent on leash, housetrained and well-mannered. In order to set her up for success in her future home, our Behavior Team has set the following requirements.

Anda is looking for a home without people under 16, without other animals and with a yard that has a 6 foot privacy fence. She is eligible for Foster-to-Adopt, which means you can Foster her to ensure she’s a good fit for your home before finalizing her adoption.

We are not giving up on Anda, but we desperately need your help to find her forever home. Please continue sharing Anda’s story. We know her family is out there, and you might just be the one to help us find them.

If your home meets Anda’s needs and you are interested in meeting her, please reach out to behaviorteam@greatplainsspca.org.
