Meet Winston

Maybe most heartbreaking of all, Winston was found tied to one of our doors late Sunday night, in the dark, after hours, severely injured. His back leg, hanging loose like a noodle, was fractured in three places and he was in an incredible amount of pain. On top of that, he has a severe puncture wound through his right cheek.

Our Shelter Medical Team quickly determined the best chance for Winston to have a healthy, pain-free life would be to amputate his severely broken and detached leg. Our team has seen many emergencies and animals in bad condition, but this is one of the worst, hard to witness breaks we have seen. We can only imaging what Winston went through to sustain such horrible injuries – he could have been hit by a car, bit by another animal, both or neither. Regardless, it’s heartbreaking to see an animal suffering in such terrible pain.

Winston is on a long road to recovery. Our team is helping him learn to walk on his now three legs and we hope to place him in a Foster home soon so he may continue healing in the most comfortable setting.
