Following are offered to all employees who work 30 hours or more.

Eligibility:
• Must have worked at Great Plains for 36 months (3 years)
Leave Benefits:
• Parents that Give Birth:
– 60% of wages for 6 months
– Must apply for Short-Term Disability for initial weeks
• Non-Birthing Parents (including adoption of baby/toddler):
– 60% of wages for 8 weeks
• Adoption of child older than toddler:
– 60% of wages for 4 weeks
Definitions:
• “Baby” and “Toddler” defined as up to 3 years old
Payback Clause:
• Employees must return to work for at least 3 months post-leave
• Requires a signed agreement
Great Plains SPCA offers competitive pay and is the highest in the Kansas City area for front line animal shelter positions. Employees receive annual performance reviews with the opportunity for salary increases and financial bonuses.
Great Plains SPCA offers a generous paid time off package which increases after just the first year of employment. In addition, we recognize nine company holidays when we are closed to the public: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Because the animals need care 365 days per year, you may be required to work on holidays and will be paid premium for the hours worked and get free lunch.
Employee Days of Significance – After sixty days of successful employment, full time staff who work a minimum of 36 hours per week receive two days of Significance per calendar year. Part time staff who work a minimum of 30 hours per week receive one day.
Benefits are an important part of your overall compensation. Great Plains SPCA offers a comprehensive array of valuable benefits to protect employee health, family, and way of life. Below are some of the core benefits offered to Great Plains SPCA employees.
Great Plains SPCA pays an average of 50% of the health insurance premium for medical, dental and vision for employees who work at least 30 hours per week. Employees can select from four health care plan options.
In addition to the behavioral coverage offered in the medical benefits, we offer a 100% employer paid mental health therapy program called Teledoc. Teledoc is a flexible and comprehensive digital counseling program with proven tools and dedicated support for stress, depression, sleep and more. This service provides sessions with both mental health therapists and psychiatrists.
Great Plains is committed to supporting the overall well‑being of our team. Eligible employees working 30 or more hours per week with two years of continuous employment may receive up to $250 per 12‑month period in reimbursement for approved sleep and wellness services. This program is designed to help staff improve rest, reduce stress, and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
EAP offers immediate support and referral to the most appropriate resource to help employees and family manage everyday life issues such as emotional issues, relationship concerns, coping with a serious illness, substance dependence, childcare, financial, and more.
To better support the diverse communities we serve, we offer a bilingual pay differentiator for employees who use Spanish as part of their regular responsibilities. This additional compensation recognizes the vital role bilingual communication plays in helping families, community members, and pets receive the guidance and care they need.
Employees who use Spanish consistently in their day‑to‑day work may be eligible for this differentiator. This program reflects our commitment to accessibility, compassionate service, and meaningful connection with every individual who turns to us for support.
Eligible employees (regularly scheduled 30+ hours per week with two years of continuous employment) may take a dedicated Day of Volunteering to support community organizations. This benefit encourages service, connection, and living out our shared values.
Great Plains SPCA offers a 403(b) retirement plan to all employees to help support savings for later in life. Great Plains SPCA covers all 403b plan fees for employees
Great Plains SPCA pays the full premium for group term life. Employees also have the option to purchase supplemental life insurance.
Disability insurance provides benefits that replace part of an employee’s lost income when they become unable to work due to a covered injury or illness.
All staff members receive a monthly phone stipend to support fast, reliable, and non‑disruptive communication. Because many roles require timely responses and consistent connectivity, this benefit ensures employees have the tools they need to perform their work effectively.
Stipend levels vary based on the employee’s role and business needs, including whether the position requires regular phone use, on‑call responsibilities, or leadership‑designated communication needs.

Skilled in streamlining processes, ensuring accuracy under pressure, and partnering cross-functionally to support mission-critical operations and compassionate care delivery.
Pay Range: $65,000 – $75,000
We are looking for diverse, passionate community leaders with a strong background in finance, development, fundraising and marketing who are willing to bring their experience to help us increase our brand awareness and financial growth. While day-to-day operations are led by GPSPCA’s Chief Executive Officer, the Board-CEO relationship is a partnership.
