Volunteer Spotlight: March

Please join us in congratulating our March Volunteers of the Month! Volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization and our shelter pets are lucky to have amazing people like them advocating on their behalf every single day!

Independence Campus: Chrissy and Alayna Bryant

Chrissy and her daughter Alayna have been volunteering with Great Plains SPCA since the end of May 2017. With their one year anniversary of being involved within our organization, they have acquired just shy of 600 hours of service. Alayna had convinced her mom while present for a volunteer shift that fostering was something they needed to do. Chrissy mentioned “Since I was more of a dog person, I told her fostering kittens would be her responsibility. She has grown so much from this opportunity. I thought we were helping animals but really, they are helping her.” Chrissy also went on to say that her favorite aspect of volunteering here is “meeting so many great individuals who are all working for the same goal of helping homeless animals. We enjoy taking these little kittens. Some of them don’t even have their eyes open and to help them grow and be socialized enough to be adopted into loving homes is so rewarding.” Her and her daughter love to hear about their previous fosters being adopted and have even “foster failed” one of their foster kittens. We are extremely grateful for this mother/daughter duo! On behalf of Great Plains SPCA, thank you for all that you do and congratulations on becoming our Volunteer of the Month!

Merriam Campus: Leslie Roste

Although relatively new to Great Plains SPCA, Leslie Roste has made a majorly positive impact in her 8 months with us. Leslie’s volunteer roles vary greatly from Laundry Hero to Outreach Ambassador and nearly everywhere in between. “Initially, I thought it would be a great way to get some more exercise walking, but within the first month, I discovered it opened up this part of my heart that comes from giving yourself…I was addicted,” says Leslie about her experience as a volunteer. Because of volunteers like Leslie, we can expand our reach to an even larger audience which directly benefits the animals in our care. On behalf of Great Plains SPCA, thank you for all you do and congratulations on becoming Volunteer of the Month!
