Government issued ‘Stay Home Order’

Dear Supporters,

On Saturday March 28th, Governor of Kansas issued a state wide “Stay Home” order to slow the spread of COVID-19. The order was issued to:

To preserve the public health and safety of all Kansans, and to ensure the healthcare system is capable of serving all citizens in need, especially those at high risk and vulnerable to COVID-19, all individuals within the state of Kansas are directed to stay in their homes or residences unless performing an essential activity.”

‘This order supersedes any local orders that are in place and no local jurisdiction can enforce any more or less restrictive ‘stay home’ orders’https://governor.kansas.gov/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/EO20-16.pdf

The order runs from 12:01am on March 30th 2020 until April 19th 2020.

The order focuses on four functional areas:

  • Connect
  • Distribute
  • Manage
  • Supply
  • Animal Shelters are listed as ‘essential’ under ‘Supply’, see page 8 section ‘g’.
  • For those carrying out ‘essential’ services no prior approval is needed nor documentation proving they are allowed to leave home. Businesses classed as ‘essential’ are required where possible, to utilize teleworking and for those whose duties cannot be performed offsite, must maintain to the extent possible the 6 ft social distancing guideline and continued preventative hygiene protocols. See page 3, section ‘9’.
