Pluto spent his entire 10-year life living outdoors on a chain until he was rescued by the Great Plains SPCA HERO (Humane. Education. Resources. Outreach.) team. Our HERO team first encountered Pluto two weeks ago. He was chained outdoors, underweight and lacking basic necessities to survive the harsh winter weather. Our HERO team worked diligently with Animal Control to advocate for Pluto, whose owner eventually agreed to surrender him to us.
Now Pluto is safe at Great Plains SPCA and our Behavior and Training team is working patiently to help him acclimate to indoor life. Having been an outdoor dog his entire life, Pluto is fairly under socialized and wary of humans, but he is slowly learning to trust and appreciate human interaction.
