This beautiful, smiling boy is Lobo. He’s had quite the life. Lobo was brought to Great Plains SPCA over four years ago, aged ten, and heartworm positive. He needed our help. He needed to learn to trust people again. And, over a year later, Lobo found what we’d hoped was his forever home.

In 2018, having been surrendered to another local shelter, Lobo came back to Great Plains SPCA. Lobo was so full of love and life. Being in a shelter is hard on any pet. Being old, blind and in poor health makes it even harder. The longer Lobo was in the shelter, the faster his quality of life decreased. In October, it was time for him to have one last, best weekend with a hospice foster.

All donations up to $150,000 will be matched, dollar-for-dollar, through the end of the year to continue our lifesaving mission!

How your donation helps you be a hero for pets, people and the community!

Great Plains SPCA’s Behavior and Training Program works to keep pets in forever homes and prepare homeless pets for adoption.

Our foster program gives us the opportunity to save more pets in our community and is integral part of what we do.

The Pet Food Pantry relies solely on donations. We proudly distribute thousands of pounds of food monthly to local families & their pets!

All revenue received from clients at the Veterinary Care Center goes back to support our mission to serve our community.

Our HERO (Humane Education Resources Outreach) works to improve communities through education and outreach.

Your support will help our pets find the path to their best life.

Hospice fosters welcome pets like Lobo into their hearts and homes. Because every pet deserves to know what family and home feels like.

Over the last 14 years, Lobo has never been one to give up. And his last best weekend has become his last best home—for as long as he needs and enjoys it.

UPDATE: It is with great sadness that we are burdened with the task of announcing that Lobo has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. He was a loved member of the Great Plains SPCA family and will be greatly missed. Thank you to all who cared for him over the years and a special thank you to his hospice foster family who made his last moments special.

Our supporters come in all shapes and sizes. Donors. Volunteers. Adopters. Fosters. Hospice fosters. And the generosity of Great Plains SPCA supporters makes our mission a reality for every pet and person we see. Great Plains SPCA is so grateful for you, for helping make our mission a reality for every pet and person we see!

This holiday season, as we think of the pets and people who have touched our lives, we ask for your support with a generous donation to help us make more happy families.
