Meet Trixie, a delightful three-year-old pup, who,was rescued along with four other dogs a few weeks ago by our friends at The Rescue Project and KCK Animal Services. These dogs, three of which were puppies, were found living outdoors, neglected, starving and in need of immediate help to save their lives.
Trixie came to Great Plains SPCA after staying a few weeks at KCK Animal Services. She is heartworm positive, still underweight and somewhat under-socialized, so our Shelter Medical and Behavioral teams are very involved in her care. Despite everything she has been through, she is super sweet, quick to trust and happily accepts treats.
While the other pups have been adopted, Trixie has yet to find her forever home. Our team is working diligently to build her confidence and ensure she is healthy and happy. We will also continue her heartworm treatment and cover those costs, even after she is adopted.
