Great Plains SPCA Shelter Operations Update – June 17, 2020

***Kansas Executive Order No 20-52 – Requiring masks or other face coverings in public. – July 3rd 2020***

We wanted to keep you posted on how we are managing the shelter now that many of the Kansas “Stay at Home” orders have been lifted.

Adoptions: We have been and remain open for adoptions seven days a week. Adoptions are currently by appointment only.

Admissions: Our animal control partnerships with our seven municipalities and regular admissions continue including out-of-state transfers from shelters in need.

Volunteers: We are excited to have many of our existing volunteers back on site in a limited capacity. We are also accepting new volunteers in some roles. Please check our website at www.greatplainsspca.org/volunteer to see what volunteer opportunities are available.

Public Animal Behavior classes: Our public behavior classes have also returned and are held outside to promote social distancing.

Donations: We are truly grateful for donations and continue to accept in kind drop off donations including kitty litter, beer flats, newspapers, unopened pet food, bedding, towels, toys, and wet food. If you would like to donate any of these items, they can be sent to the shelter directly via mail or dropped off outside of the Pet Adoption Center at 5424 Antioch Drive. You can also order via our Amazon Wishlist.

Social Distancing: We continue to promote social distancing and all staff and visitors are still required to wear face masks and remain six feet apart when on campus.

We will keep you posted on our operations here via our website, through our emails and via social media as we continue to remain flexible in our approach and planning to ensure safety of staff, volunteers, visitors and animals.

As always you can reach us anytime via info@greatplainsspca.org

Thank you for your continued support. We could not do it without you.

Thank you,
