Dear Supporters,
It has been almost a year since I first shared my thoughts with our team of my vision for creating a culture at Great Plains of kindness and grace with accountability, empowerment and without fear of judgment or isolation.
2020 has been a tough year for many of us and the events of the past few weeks have added more turmoil to many of our lives. As reactions have grown across the country and around the globe in response to the death of George Floyd, I have been thinking a lot about two of the words at the foundation of our culture: ‘grace’ and ‘isolation’. For me, they signify the importance of understanding and inclusion, and are key in helping create a kinder world. But they are not just words – they must be followed by action. That is why we have focused so heavily on them at Great Plains over this past year, highlighting and recognizing those who role model them.
I also believe we still have an opportunity to continue to be better. We must continue to listen more, open our hearts and minds more. We need to ensure that each day we continue to make decisions that show kindness, grace, and inclusion to everyone regardless of what they may look like or where they come from.
