A Note From Tam Singer

Great Plains SPCA relies on the generosity of our donors, volunteers, and foster families to help us carry out our mission to serve more than 6,000 homeless pets annually. Our “Helping Heroes” monthly giving program is a compassionate group of loyal supporters who donate monthly so that we have dependable resources to continue quality care to our shelter pets.

On average, our cost of care for a shelter pet is $751. However, some shelter pets like Lucy the dog, need more extensive medical treatment before they are ready for adoption. Lucy was abandoned at our shelter. Her fur was so severely matted that it had cut off circulation to one of her front legs and unfortunately, her leg could not be saved. Thankfully, our shelter veterinary team saved her life and she is adjusting well with three legs. Today, Lucy is healthy and happy with her new family.

One of our loyal “Helping Heroes” shares why her monthly gift matters:

I am a passionate monthly donor to Great Plains SPCA because I believe deeply in the mission of the shelter. We have found four members of our family at Great Plains SPCA and not only has our experience with every shelter employee been top-notch but it’s clear that they have a culture of caring for the animals and the humans who love them.I am proud to help equip them by contributing monthly and making the shelter part of my future plans.
