Volunteer Spotlight: September

Please join us in congratulating our September Volunteers of the Month! Volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization and our shelter pets are lucky to have amazing people like them advocating on their behalf every single day!

Independence: Steve Pello

Steve Pello began volunteering with Great Plains SPCA a little over four years ago. In that time frame, he has completed nearly 2,000 hours of service! Steve is dedicated to helping the Canine Care staff walk dogs and he frequently socializes them in our reception area.  “One thing I really like, is the freedom to help out an animal in whatever way works best,” Steve says.  “As long as it’s using approved methods and won’t be harmful.”  On behalf of Great Plains SPCA, thank you for all you do and congratulations on becoming our Volunteer of the Month!

Merriam: Chris Payton

Chris has been volunteering with Great Plains SPCA for nearly two years, in which she has accumulated nearly 1,700 hours of volunteer and foster service!  “I have always had a passion for animals, so when I retired it seemed the natural choice,” Chris says.  In addition to volunteering at our shelter, Chris spends a great deal of her time as a foster parent.  One of her favorite ways to get involved is by fostering entire litters of puppies!  On behalf of Great Plains SPCA, thank you for all that you do and congratulations on becoming our Volunteer of the Month!
