Young Heroes Camp

Young campers (ages 8-12) will learn about the pets in our care at Great Plains SPCA as well as other members of the animal kingdom, what their needs are, and how to be HEROES for them.

Topics include animal safety, animal welfare issues, how youth can make a difference in the lives of animals, relationships animals have with us and each other, animal careers and more! Projects include hands-on activities, crafts, and interactive games.

The curriculum for camp emphasizes kindness, respect, responsibility, and decision making as well as problem solving, reading and writing. There will be time each day to interact with a shelter pet – whether in the classroom or reading by a kennel, but this camp focuses on education and teaching the next generation of pet owners all about proper pet ownership.

Notes:

    • – Please bring your child no earlier than 8:45 am and pick him/her up no later than 4:15 pm each day. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide child supervision outside of these hours.
