Young campers (ages 8-12) will learn about the pets in our care at Great Plains SPCA as well as other members of the animal kingdom, what their needs are, and how to be HEROES for them.

Topics include safety around animals, animal welfare issues, how youth can make a difference, relationships animals have with us and each other, animal careers and more. Projects include making toys and treats for shelter pets or pets at home, making animal-themed art pieces, crafts, interactive games, and more. Curriculum emphasizes kindness, respect, responsibility, decision-making as well as movement, play, cooperation, problem-solving, reading and writing. A culminating reception for parents, family, and friends to view the work of our Young HEROES – campers receive Young HEROES certificate.
